Fossil Falls, California is one of those places that makes me envision life over the ages. I think about the eruption that laid down the lava under foot, the ancient river that sculpted the canyon and dry water fall that gives the area its name and the Indians who called this area home. Today the cliffs are loved by rock climbers and others exploring the stark beauty of the desert.
2020 has been a year of challenges for my artistic awareness bringing change and growth to my paintings. As self-isolation and covid travel restrictions continue my exploration of nature diminished resulting in less inspiration for landscape painting. I was able to focus my artistic sense into other subjects. I have started exploring portraiture merging people with nature and modern styles with classical technique.
