Misty Monster, an Idaho native, creates her Morbidly Adorable characters from her nest in curiouser and curiouser Boise. Painting in acrylics, she uses figurative fantasy, big eye kitsch, and pop surrealism to explore tarot, give voice to animals, promote vegan ethics, and explore the tenuous connection between beauty and tragedy in sensitive subjects such as grief and loss.
Weaving stories from travel, dreams, and fairy tales, Misty lives and breathes the fantasy genre. She won a HOT TOPIC X LAIKA contract for her Tea Time withCoraline painting. She was given a grant to study with world-renowned artists Wendy and Brian Froud at a Dark Crystal Sculpture Workshop in England. Her art has been featured in magazines, such as Gothic Beauty and Tattoos for Women, and included in the book, Big Eye Art: Resurrected and Transformed.
Exhibiting her work online, in galleries, and at conventions for over 20 years, Misty’s art has gained a multi-generational following. When she isn’t researching ancient mythology or reading ElfQuest comics, she is feeding her creative muse at concerts and plays. Misty’s latest work, the Morbidly Adorable Tarot Deck, will be out in late 2025/early 2026.
