Artist Statement
I wanted to create a nude that isn’t really sexy; she’s just outside, enjoying the sun. She has knobby knees, big feet and toes, and she isn’t breathtakingly beautiful. She just is. And she’s more like the rest of us than the nudes we see in the art history books!
I love drawing and carving out and painting hands and feet and faces and bodies. The human body is a wonder in all its manifestations. And the simple act of exaggerating features can only bring attention to those people and those body parts that we often overlook.
