Artist Statement
I watched the eclipse this last summer on a hill overlooking Ketchum, and was inspired by it’s beauty and otherworldliness. My painting, A Study of the Eclipse, reflected the strange quality of light experienced during this phenomenon. It was done in oil to portray the vivid sunsets, deep blue skies, and visible lights from the city of Ketchum that I experienced during totality.
My painting, Watching the Eclipse, was inspired by eclipse glasses. I chose to create this work with a comic book-like style to reflect the sci-fi-fi nature of these glasses, and of this once in a lifetime experience.
