Oil on canvas
The approach I rake to the painting surface takes many forms – surprise attack, lightheartedness, heavy-handedness, distraction, confidence, fear and expectation, and just do it.
Elements that drive to a full, joyous romp of application gathering the pieces together as the road unwinds is heaven on earth.
I studied two years at L.A. Art Center and graduated with honors from Cal Arts (Choiunard), 1969. I’ve been a working artist the last three years in Medford, OR. Interim years leave a faint impression – art wasn’t my life. Current stuff represents my found inner self. I’ve discovered oil to be my favorite medium. I take occasional forays using acrylic ink, watercolor, and such. The source of imagery is unknown, flowing sometimes at a crawl and sometimes erupting explosively. My struggle is to keep my “self” out of the way. The work is better that way.
