Artist Statement
For me, blue is a bright but neutral color, somewhere between the tranquility of green and the fiery nature of red. So, the blue of a mailbox forms a colorful backdrop to some graffiti and stickers. Although the graffiti are accurate to my original photograph, I have modified the background and swapped in stickers from elsewhere to hopefully provide some food for thought.
I have always been fascinated by linear perspective in art and architecture, while at the same time I have also been inspired by the beauty and patterns of nature. My work incorporates both of these themes. My work utilizes stark linear perspective to create images with science fiction and fantasy themes and surreal landscapes, with focus on depth of field and complex detail to draw the viewer into them. Some of my drawings blend the natural world with futuristic sci-fi images, and some of them feature surrealistic takes on familiar landscapes.
