Acrylic on Canvas
I made this painting specifically for this exhibition. The painting is mostly a royal blue supported by black. The painting is split in two by a then light blue stripe that serves as the focal point of the piece. I wanted the viewer to ask themselves why the artist placed the lines and shapes where he did.
My paintings don’t generally have deep questions or lofty messages I want to convey to the viewer. I want my art to make the viewer feel better for looking at it. The world is brimming with ugliness and terrible things. I believe it’s my job as an artist and designer to push back against the awful things in this world by injecting it with beauty and pleasant images. People need all the strength they can get, and I hope that they can find strength or maybe just a little relief through my art.
