Sunshine Meets Camas
Sometimes the color blue is joyful! Who wouldn’t feel elation when spying a field of Blue Camas petals reaching toward the sun in springtime? Indigenous peoples of the region continue to harvest their bulbs in the fall, as their ancestors did for countless centuries. In my painting “Sunshine Meets Camas,” I incorporate the ongoing interplay between sky, earth and Native cultures: the sun, the life it nurtures, and the richness of human creativity. Such joyfulness to cherish and preserve!
