Oil on Canvas
This piece was inspired by a photograph taken by John DeVilbiss, a friend who graciously allows me to use his photographs as reference for my art. It is for sale at a reduced price (normally $475 for this size) as it was painted on a canvas that had a small cut in the lower right, which was repaired and does not affect the image.
From pastel animal “portraits” in elementary school, to renderings of family and friends in oils today, my art journey has been a long and rewarding one. To capture not only a likeness but a sense of place or moment in time is a special feeling. I have appreciated the ability to learn from great teachers both in person and now via zoom, or YouTube webinars. Finding my own “voice” has been a challenge, but retirement and the pandemic have provided the opportunity to devote more time to developing my own style and has provided a creative outlet for maintaining sanity.
