Into The Blue
Acrylic on Canvas
I love the sagebrush country and I am entranced with the birds and raptors that live there. One day in the spring I was out watching the Ferruginous hawks choose their nests. One lovely couple were sitting in their nest when I started photographing them. As if I had forced myself into their home, they took offense. First, the male took off and behind him the female. The female headed out and away, but the male took a moment to stare me down. They rose off into the blue sky away from the intruder.
I took my first art class when I was thirty years old. I walked into the local art store clutching my supply list with stars in my eyes and wanted to touch everything in the store. Primarily, I paint with acrylics on canvas, but I also use watercolor and my iPad and Apple Pencil. Most of the time my compositions and illustrations begin with a piece of charcoal or a good ol’ sharpened pencil.
