When Disaster Strikes
Oil on Canvas
Artist Statement
While I was plein air painting at the World Center for the Birds of Prey. I was watching a covey of quail when suddenly a hawk swooped down and grabbed one. I thought isn’t that like life. In these times we are going along when suddenly disaster strikes one of us. This thought was my inspiration for this painting.
Artist Bio
My still life paintings are my commentary on life. My paintings for this show are from a “Pandemic Life” series, based on how covid has affected me. In these still life paintings, I used color, contrast, composition and objects to convey strong feelings and my observations on these times.
