Elephants will have a lasting impact emotionally on all that spend time with them. They stir something deep in you, to where you feel them reach into your soul and change you. These creatures live long, slow, and often traumatically devastating lives by the hands of humans due to poaching and maltreatment. If I could slow people down to be in an elephants presence and really feel them, I believe the cruelty would end.
Artist Statement
Heather Haley is an artist based in Boise, Idaho and has been fortunate enough to travel throughout the world. Heather has always had a deep appreciation for animals and nature as shown by her work. Growing up in Boise, she began drawing and painting before she could speak in full sentences. Art was her first language. Nature, wildlife, and the outdoors are dominate themes in her artwork. The inability to quench her thirst for adventure, and insatiable passion for wildlife, Heather uses vivid color to depict scenes from her imagination and experiences which are prevalent in her work.
