Inspiration Point
Oil on Canvas
Artist Statement
When I saw a photograph of Inspiration Point taken by my friend John DeVilbiss, I knew I had to paint it; I also knew I had to go BIG. My technique was new to me at the time: using a palette knife for most of the areas. Capturing the spray from the falls was a challenge, but I loved mixing the gorgeous oils to create the earth tones of this piece. To me, abundance always means nature’s bounty–all the good gifts we received from God, including everything in the natural world that is here for our enjoyment.
Artist Bio
I am a retired librarian, recently moved to the Boise area from Olympia Washington, where I was active in the Olympia Art League. Mostly self-taught in the artistic realm, I did take a few classes in drawing while living in Belgium, and there also studied oil painting under the artist, Beth Jepson.
