Artist Statement
Recently while traveling, I discovered The Alabama Hills, a California State Park, for the first time. I was truly awestruck by its unusual, yet somehow familiar beauty. This area is the site of where over 400 movies have been filmed since black and white silent movies.
Eagerly soon after returning home, I started this painting from photographs I had taken on my trip.
I am proud, yet humbled, to call myself an artist. First of all, I paint and draw because it brings me great joy and is therapeutic expression after many years working as a registered nurse.
I also use my art to share the visual beauty that is all around us.
I have created art throughout my life starting as the child of an artist mother. I am grateful to have had many great mentors.
