2nd Annual
Foray Exhibition
April 27, 2012 - July 26, 2012
Prospectus
Foray is TVAA's annual exhibit whose goal is to showcase the work of EVERY member of the alliance. Whether you are a professional artist, just starting out, or somewhere in between, this is your chance to show your support and respect for the diversity of visual expression here in the Treasure Valley. Your participation helps to build strong connections within the visual artist community. Participating artists also benefit by receiving exposure to a growing number of art lovers and patrons who continue to show their support for this truly inclusive art exhibition. Up to three pieces may be submitted for consideration. Each artist member will have one piece selected for the show, so please submit work you feel represents the best you have to offer.
Theme
We don't have a theme for this show, but if we did it would be "Hey, World! Come and see what an amazingly diverse and talented group of artists we have in the Treasure Valley!"
Application Procedure
Artists may submit up to three digital images of original work beginning February 11 with the deadline of March 23rd. Please include artist’s name, title of work, medium, and dimensions for each artwork, as well as the artist's contact information. Click the Apply Now button at the bottom of this page.
In accordance with the TVAA’s mission of inclusion this show is not juried, but will be curated by the Exhibition Committee. Any current TVAA member who submits images by the deadline will have one artwork in the show. Artwork selected for the exhibition must be available from the drop-off date to the pick-up date. Substitutions will not be considered. If you think there will be a conflict in scheduling a particular artwork, please do not submit that piece. The Exhibition Committee reserves the right to exclude any artwork not appropriately prepared for installation.
Weight of Artwork
Any separate component of a 3-D piece should not weigh more than 35 pounds. If components weigh more than this, then assistance with installation may be required of the artist. Please be aware that TVAA has limited access to pedestals so display options for 3-D work may be a consideration.
Hanging Devices
Each artwork should have an appropriate hanging device attached. Click here for information on professional framing and appropriate hanging devices. If artwork for wall hanging is heavy, please make sure hanging device is suitable for weight and appropriate for sheetrock. Pieces without appropriate hanging devices will not be installed.
Delivery of artwork
Accepted artwork must be dropped off at the Boise State Public Radio Offices at 220 E. Park Center Blvd. during the hours of 10 am to 1 pm on April 23, 2012. All artwork should be labeled on the back with the artist’s name and the piece's title. This is important for properly identifying each piece since signatures are sometimes hard to decipher. Artists will also be required to sign a release upon delivery of work.
Sales
Information on how buyers can contact the artist should be provided. Artists receive 80% commission, with 20% retained on any work sold (10% of that going to TVAA and 10% to Boise State Public Radio). Purchases must be worked out between the individual artist and buyer.
